Beautifully illustrated deck and guidebook。 The guidebook includes the usual how-to and card spread suggestion section, and the author explains the call to create the deck in a concise but touching introduction。The idea of pairing an animal and a plant on each card is really ingenious, as it allows for a nuance that I've struggled to find in other oracle decks。 Each explanation page explores these extended concordances and gives both an upright and a reversed possible meaning。I will definitely b Beautifully illustrated deck and guidebook。 The guidebook includes the usual how-to and card spread suggestion section, and the author explains the call to create the deck in a concise but touching introduction。The idea of pairing an animal and a plant on each card is really ingenious, as it allows for a nuance that I've struggled to find in other oracle decks。 Each explanation page explores these extended concordances and gives both an upright and a reversed possible meaning。I will definitely be adding this deck to my collection when it's published。 。。。more

What a delightful deck! The illustrations are charming and their design, color and composition invite contemplation。 Each card pairs a creature with a plant。 Roux writes that the deck can be used with or without the guidebook, but I think the descriptions so charming I would hesitate to forego it。

This review based on an ARC of the guidebook made available by Andrews McMeel Publishing through NetGalley, with gratitude to both。I read this guidebook over three the course of three mornings, drinking tea and reading through the meanings。 I highly recommend the whole experience。 I will absolutely be putting this deck on my to-buy list。Roux's descriptions of the cards relies on the Victorian symbology of flowers mixed within a mythological framework。 I loved that it included a wide selection of This review based on an ARC of the guidebook made available by Andrews McMeel Publishing through NetGalley, with gratitude to both。I read this guidebook over three the course of three mornings, drinking tea and reading through the meanings。 I highly recommend the whole experience。 I will absolutely be putting this deck on my to-buy list。Roux's descriptions of the cards relies on the Victorian symbology of flowers mixed within a mythological framework。 I loved that it included a wide selection of mythology, not relying entirely on the Greek pantheon, quite refreshing。 Each explanation comes with at least two questions to draw the reader in give the querent space to reflect。The combination of plants with animals works well together。 I'm not particularly fond of animals & don't often connect with them in an oracle-deck context, but Roux's deck is one I really connected with。Roux shared an example of her deck on her instagram page, which helped me visualize how the black & white images in the guidebook would look like in color - and I look forward to one day seeing the deck in person。There were many cards that resonated with me, but the one that stood out the most was the questions related to the Vulture card, "How do you experience grief? How do I redefine myself after an upheaval?"Roux also includes some possible card spreads in the introduction。 I plan on using the six-card spread, one that combines a traditional tarot-deck with a favourite oracle deck。If you are a tarot/oracle deck lover (or fiend) I highly recommend adding this one to your collection。 。。。more

This is a great oracle deck! I adored the cards that I was able to see, and the LWB gives clear background and outlines of what each card represents。 I think this would be a great deck for those who are into hearth/kitchen/cottage witchcraft, those who like cottagecore, or anyone who likes woodland creatures and plants as well! I was fascinated by the combination of animal and botanical and how well they worked together。 Will definitely be thinking of purchasing a deck once it's released! This is a great oracle deck!

I'm not a new age-y person at all, but this deck appealed to me because of its pretty, clear, unfussy artwork, so I requested an ARC。 What I received was the instructions booklet; which is fine -- it lists every card in detail with lots of insight into the animal and plant depicted and how you can apply these to your reading --, but I really would have liked a look at the actual cards in colour instead of just plain b&w。 Still, I enjoyed the "Woodland Wardens" so much that I'll probably buy them I'm not a new age-y person at all, but this deck appealed to me because of its pretty, clear, unfussy artwork, so I requested an ARC。 What I received was the instructions booklet; which is fine -- it lists every card in detail with lots of insight into the animal and plant depicted and how you can apply these to your reading --, but I really would have liked a look at the actual cards in colour instead of just plain b&w。 Still, I enjoyed the "Woodland Wardens" so much that I'll probably buy them for myself once they're released; I liked the down-to-earth way the author assigns the meanings to her cards, there's none of that flowery, over-the-top prose, just quiet hints and thoughts。 Would have given 5 stars if I'd had the chance to get an impression of the actual cards; as it is, I can't really tell what they actually look like。Very nice。 。。。more

I wish the illustrations were in color and not black and white。

This collection would be beautiful for kids and adults alike for different reasons。 The illustrations are the heart of this collection, and I feel like this would appeal to everyone, with the inscriptions on the back appealing to those who have a love of fauna and flora, animals, mythology, or just plain old whimsy。This collection is fascinating because it incorporates varied forms of meaning to entail a story of the illustrated subjects。As the writer suggested, I sporadically read these cards t This collection would be beautiful for kids and adults alike for different reasons。 The illustrations are the heart of this collection, and I feel like this would appeal to everyone, with the inscriptions on the back appealing to those who have a love of fauna and flora, animals, mythology, or just plain old whimsy。This collection is fascinating because it incorporates varied forms of meaning to entail a story of the illustrated subjects。As the writer suggested, I sporadically read these cards to enjoy the individuality of each card。 It was beautiful passive learning, making for a collection that would be great for nature lovers or those who love a bit of lore。Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel for the ARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

This author has done an amazing job in the illustrations included in this book。 I would definitely go out and purchase the cards if available。 The description was clear and easy to understand。 The one-card spread is a great way to start your day。 There were even several other spread examples that were great。Great guidebook and LOVED the decks。
